Who is eligible for this special discount?

If implemented, the policy would build on House Bill 1302, which refunded Georgia taxpayers $500 last year. The bill gave up to $500 for couples who applied together, up to $375 for heads of household, and up to $250 for singles. Her 4,444 residents who filed tax returns in 2020 and her 4,444 in 2021 were eligible for the refund. The majority of taxpayers received their money by mailed paper check, but some who filed electronically received a direct wire transfer. We also discussed a $1 billion property tax relief program approved by the state legislature that provides a $500 rebate to homeowners.

A similar program was run by the state until it closed in 2009, according to AP. In addition, he said the $1.1 billion surplus would go to the Department of Transportation in Georgia’s proposed budget to pay for road maintenance.

This comes after the Georgia gas tax, which is the department’s main source of funding, was suspended last year. The budget also includes $100 million to help local school districts meet the growing cost of employee health insurance.
